In any high-altitude work industry, there are likely to be occasions where mobile lifting equipment or machinery is used. It is important to ensure total safety when using such equipment or heavy, expensive and dangerous machinery.
Those involved in this industry should take appropriate MEP courses before engaging in related operations.
Training courses
PEMP or mobile elevating work platform courses allow you to understand the mechanics and electronics of these machines and equipment in order to use them efficiently and safely. Work can be well managed and completed when the right knowledge and skills are applied; this comes by following the appropriate PEMP courses available on the market.
The PEMP Operator Training Course is an IPAF accredited one-day course. This is the agency’s most popular PEMP course, attracting up to 90,000 delegates each year to all IPAF approved training centers.
The course may be short, but it sufficiently covers the tasks, responsibilities and aspects related to worker safety at heights, as well as the relevant knowledge of the equipment and tools required for MEWPs.
MEWP courses cover static vertical, personnel platform, static arrows, vans, trailer racks, mobile verticals, mobile VPPs and arrows.
Qualification
Once the course candidates successfully completed this training, they received the coveted photo-card, certificate, IPAF Operator Safety Guide, and the PAL Card Journal. These estimated entities would allow candidates to be marketable in the construction sector for 5 years. After that, refresher or upgrade courses are strongly recommended.
This qualification is required in the framework of the state-imposed regulations for work at height in order to ensure total safety and successful development during and after the project. This MEWP qualification would provide applicants with relevant technical information on MEWPs, tools, resources, safety and health, as well as hands-on experience sessions before entering the world of work.
Additional courses
In accordance with the MEWP training, there are other related training courses to complement the knowledge and skills acquired during the MEWP courses. These include PAF safety classes on scissor lifts, scissors and arrows, cherry picking baskets and ladders.
These are all IPAF approved courses that are relevant to the construction and development industry. There are more than 500 IPAF-accredited training centers around the world to meet the needs of the global development industry. These courses are recognized by many countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States. Their programs are certified by TUV which is ISO 18878: 2004.
